Eli and I are getting ready for a long, much-needed vacation… we’re heading to Africa for about four and a half weeks, covering four countries and untold fun stuff. Here’s a brief look at the itinerary:

  • Feb 7-8: Travel from Seattle to Cape Town, South Africa

  • Feb 9-11: In Cape Town. Penguins, wine country, Robben Island, Cape Point, recover from jet lag

  • Feb 11-15: Okavango Delta in Botswana

  • Feb 15-17: Visit my friends John & Alison in Francistown, Botswana (self-drive from the delta to Francistown and then on to Jo’burg)

  • Feb 17-21: Johannesburg, South Africa: Soweto (Eli is planning on doing a theater workshop for a group of youth in the township), Apartheid Museum, Jo’burg environs

  • Feb 21-25: Rwanda. Kigali, hang out with friends, go see the mountain gorillas, maybe jump the border over into Goma, DRC for an afternoon

  • Feb 26-Mar 3: Tanzania. Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater. Look at big herds of wildebeests being eaten by lions. Check out the crater. Generally have our minds blown.

  • Mar 3-8: Zanzibar. Hang out on the beach. Explore Stone Town.

  • Mar 8-9: Travel from Dar es Salaam to Amsterdam

  • Mar 9-11: Amsterdam. Museums, coffee shops, canals, friends.

  • Mar 11: Travel from Amsterdam to Seattle. Home.

Our intent is to both blog and post photos along the way… internet access will be a key determinant of success.

Much to do - work and personal - in the next 16 days…
