There are about fifteen million things I’d like to blog from the current Africa trip, but I’m too busy living and doing stuff to actually sit down and write about it. Maybe at some point, but in the meantime here’s a handy bulleted list… not highlights per se as I’m sure I’m missing something, just random stuff that we’ve done so far:
- Nice soft landing in Cape Town with penguins, wine, good hotels, and a very interesting conversation about racial genetics with a reasonably nice but seriously f’d up tour guide.
- Tracking lion who were tracking giraffe in the Okavango Delta
- Also listening to a male lion roar in the full darkness of night from about ten feet away, also in the Delta
- Much more from the Delta
- Flying on a tiny Cessna four-seater to/from the Delta
- Driving 1250 kms from Maun to Jo’burg via Francistown, Botswana; avoiding the donkeys, goats, people, and ostriches along the way.
- The Apartheid Museum in Jo’burg; absolutely stunningly powerful. Best museum I think I’ve ever been in.
- Spending the day today in Soweto and Kliptown, townships around Johannesburg; hanging out with a bunch of kids at Soweto Kliptown Youth (SKY) while Eli did a mini theater workshop
and that leaves about 14,999,992 things left to write about…
