Last year Mark encouraged me to follow his lead and post a travel summary for 2006… I did that and then was sufficiently inspired to track things more closely in 2007. This is still something of an estimate - I didn’t track all the airlines, aircraft, or miles as closely I intended to - but it should give a rough flavor of what I’ve been up to (and where) in the past year.

Summary

  • Flew on 67 different planes, ranging from a (very) small Cessna single-engine in Africa to a handful of big planes (767, 747, 777, etc.)
  • Totalled somewhere just shy of 150,000 flight miles
  • Spent a total of 93 nights in other cities or places on the ground - not nearly as many as I would have thought - in 27 cities (note: this doesn’t include nights spent on planes so undercounts nights “away from home”)
  • Note that this includes my trip to Africa with Eli (vacation, not work)
  • Travelled to 9 non-US countries, including 2 countries I hadn’t been to before (Bolivia and Botswana)
