and it’s an easy one: 25 hours in San Francisco. I’m up at 34,000 feet on one old-ass United Jet. It’s a little disturbing when the safety video has to be restarted multiple times due to the crackling of the sound, dropping of the video, etc. Still, not as scary as some of the planes I’ve flown on in Africa… Just got my free bevvie but wow, United doesn’t have pretzels anymore?

Apparently the first full week after the holidays is the time to travel as there were exactly four people in front of me in the security line and empty middle seats throughout the plane. Just like the good old days when flights weren’t typically 96% full and it didn’t cost upward of $400 to fly from Seattle to SFO.

I’m reading Yunus’ new book (”Creating a World without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism”) and trying to figure out how to apply it to Mifos, now and in the future (he’s speaking at Kane Hall on 18 January for local Seattle folk…). Also pondering inversions: invert time spent in the weeds on tasks vs in the clouds on strategies, invert time on analysis vs action, etc.

And this flight is too short to get real work done…

  1. One Response to “First trip of the year…”

  2. Funny. I flew United to SFO yesterday as well (7:40am flight) for *my* first trip of the year . .. and was also, like, “WTF pretzels?”
